On Tuesday, July 1, from 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., get ready to celebrate in Hudson’s unique atmosphere with a day full of entertainment, music, family activities, and outdoor fun.

 

Benson Park


Ongoing Activities (12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.)

  • Jumpaï acrobatic trampoline and inflatable games

  • Creation of two live community murals by Marion Ellisalde of Emberlume, in collaboration with residents, on the theme of Canada Day

  • Face painting for children

  • Foam party, airbrush activities, and other youth activities presented by Jeunesse 360

  • Live broadcast by RKR 101.7 Radio

  • Henna tattoos

  • Scouts BBQ

  • Information booths from:

    • Hudson Historical Society

    • Le Nichoir

    • Office of MP Peter Schiefke

    • Food vendors

    • Hudson Fire Department


    12:30 p.m. / 1:30 p.m. / 2:30 p.m. : Stilt-walker performances featuring live music

    3:00 p.m. – 3:45 p.m. : Clown show

    4:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. : Official ceremony and flag-raising with elected officials. Featuring performances by the Hudson Community Choir and Hudson Youth Voices, singing O Canada and other selections.

    5:00 p.m. : End of Benson Park programming

    5:30 p.m. : Site opens

    7:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. : Laser tag and illuminated activities for youth and families

    7:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. : The Quebec Association of Folk Recreation presents a song from each Canadian province

    7:30 p.m. – 7:40 p.m. : Installation on stage of the two 4 ft x 8 ft art panels created during the day by the artist and community members, followed by a brief presentation of the artwork

    7:45 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. : Irish dance performance

    8:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. : Star Dance presents a beginner-friendly line dancing session

    8:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. : Performance by Melt It Up Country Band, featuring Star Dance dancers to keep the crowd energized

    10:00 p.m. – 10:15 p.m. : Fireworks display

    10:15 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. : DJ set with DJ Truspin

    11:00 p.m. : End of the event

Parc Jack-Layton

With its stunning views of the Ottawa River, Parc Jack Layton is a charming spot within a stone's throw of downtown Hudson and the train station. The park's great natural beauty is enjoyed by all. Picnic tables are available for a lunch with the family, and benches by the river offer restful vistas. This park is also well known to photographers, as it offers ideal opportunities to capture both sunrise and sunset. The park has a public boat launch, portable toilets, parking for permit holders, and a permit-free parking a short walk from the park. Dogs on leash are allowed at the park. The park also has a woodland trail. Note that dogs are not permitted on the trail between 7 am and 7 pm. The park is the perfect spot to rest, relax and enjoy the views!
