Lieu historique national de Coteau-du-Lac
308-A, Chemin du Fleuve - Coteau du Lac, Québec J0P 1B0
The region’s one and only Parks Canada site, the Lieu historique national of Coteau-du-Lac, showcases Canada’s first lock canal and the remains of a War of 1812 fort. History goes even further back, as the location was heavily used for portages by First Nations’ peoples looking to avoid the rapids to the south. All in all, the site brings together over 7,000 years of history on the banks of Lac-Saint-François. It’s just the sort of place where children and people of all ages can get a real sense of Canadian history. Situated on the beautiful Soulanges canal, a treat for cyclists of all skill levels, the heritage park is also close to the charming old-fashioned village of Coteau-du-Lac. For your safety, please respect the rules on the site.
